Garage Door Warnings for Homeowners with Children
Posted by admin on Dec 1, 2011 in Garage Door Openers | 0 commentsChildren and garage doors seldom mix with happy results. The former are vulnerable to the hazards while the latter are heavy and can easily injure your kids. Heed these warnings to ensure safety in the home:
1. Toys and the like
When you store bikes and other outdoor toys in the garage, you are actually leading your children to the area. If a better storage is unavailable, at least make it a house rule that outdoor play should always be supervised by an adult.
2. Playing with the remote
Young kids can be fascinated with the controls for garage door openers for good reason. They open and close the door at a push of a button. You need to sit down and have a serious talk with your children about the possible safety hazards that tinkering with the remote control opener can cause. Follow through with a disciplinary action when you catch them play with it even if no unfortunate incident will result from it. This way, you will better emphasize the dangers to them.
3. Faulty mechanisms
When the garage door is left for years without inspections, its wear and tear may result to accidents and injury. Be vigilant about its maintenance schedule to protect your family from the accident waiting to happen.
